A Guitarist, a Legend,
and a Question.
It was 1996. Mike was a drummer in a band, and his guitarist walked into the room one day and said he'd played guitar with Steve Vai.
Bullshit.
"Pull up my website," the guitarist said. So Mike did — typed the AOL address into a browser, and there they were. Photos. His guitarist. Steve Vai. Playing together. It was real. And Mike sat there staring at the screen, stunned, and one thought hit him harder than anything he'd ever felt about the internet:
"How do people know this is here?"
That question — how do people find things on the internet — became a lasting interest. Mike has studied search since 1996, through the rise of Google and successive changes to how search engines discover and organize content.
Mike has attended SEO conventions in Chicago where Matt Cutts spoke and studied latent semantic analysis, an approach to finding relationships between words and topics. His background in psychology also informs how he thinks about people and the questions behind their searches.
That technical experience and interest in people shape our work. We look at how your site is built, what visitors need to know, and what the available search data tells us to improve.
What to Expect From
Your SEO Work.
We start by reviewing your site and the searches relevant to your business. The audit covers technical access, page content, performance, and the routes visitors take from search to an inquiry or sale.
From that review, we identify priorities and explain the work involved. You can see which changes address technical problems, which improve the content, and which need ongoing measurement.
We explain what we’re changing, why it matters, and how we’ll measure it. Reports distinguish completed work from observed results, so you can see both the progress and what we still need to learn.
We use those findings to guide the next round of work and review the priorities with you as your business changes.
A Strategy You Can
Follow.
We apply the same audit and measurement practices to our own website and our clients’ sites. The focus is on documented work, specific search queries, and what visitors do after they arrive.
Our approach to SERP management covers three connected areas:
Technical foundation. We review semantic HTML, heading hierarchy, structured data, load times, and mobile layouts. As a development studio, we can implement the technical changes as well as identify them.
Content strategy rooted in search intent. We organize content around the services you offer and the questions customers ask. Research into topics, related terms, and competing results helps us decide what to improve or add.
Psychology of search. A person comparing service providers needs different information from someone researching how to solve a problem. We shape each page around those needs and provide a relevant next step.
"If you are looking for SEO ranking and SERP management, then Mike is, bar none, the most effective person you could have on your team. Rock solid, proven value."
